Muffins

Just plain muffins, made of wheat. No bran, no raisins, no corn meal. They have no pretensions to being health-food. Serve them hot with your meal, and put butter on them. They are delicious.

2 cups sifted flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons melted Crisco

Preheat oven to 375°. Grease a muffin tin. In a mixing bowl, sift together the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, mix together the egg, milk, and Crisco. Stir the wet mixture into the dry, stirring just until combined. Spoon batter into muffin tins until they are half-full. Bake for ½ hour.
