Chocolate Oblivion Truffle Torte

An amazingly short list of ingredients:

1 pound bittersweet chocolate
½ pound unsalted butter
6 large eggs

Heat oven to 425°. Grease a springform pan, or line it with waxed paper.

  1. Melt chocolate and butter together; place in a large bowl. Let cool before proceeding.
  2. With an electric beater, in a separate bowl, beat the eggs for 10 min. on high. Fold the eggs into the chocolate mixture.
  3. Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 5 min.; cover with foil, then bake for 10 min. more. Cool for 45 min., then refrigerate for at least three hours.
  4. Carefully remove it from the springform pan and put on a plate for serving.
