Baked Beef Brisket

This recipe comes from our dear friend and neighbor, Mrs. D. It is her very traditional baked brisket, in a sweet sauce made with honey and ketchup. Of course, it’s good!

1 fresh beef brisket, 3 – 3 ½ pounds
1/3 cup honey
1 envelope onion soup mix (not instant)
1 clove garlic, crushed
¾ cup ketchup

  1. Preheat oven to 325°.
  2. Place brisket in a foil-lined roasting pan, with enough foil to hang over the edges of the pan.
  3. Mix together all of the remaining ingredients, and pour over the meat. Then, fold the ends of the foil over all, sealing securely.
  4. Bake in 325° oven for 3 – 3 ½ hours or until meat is tender.
  5. Slice, and serve with sauce from the pan.
