This recipe comes from our dear friend and neighbor, Mrs. D. It is her very traditional baked brisket, in a sweet sauce made with honey and ketchup. Of course, it’s good!
1 fresh beef brisket, 3 – 3 ½ pounds
1/3 cup honey
1 envelope onion soup mix (not instant)
1 clove garlic, crushed
¾ cup ketchup
- Preheat oven to 325°.
- Place brisket in a foil-lined roasting pan, with enough foil to hang over the edges of the pan.
- Mix together all of the remaining ingredients, and pour over the meat. Then, fold the ends of the foil over all, sealing securely.
- Bake in 325° oven for 3 – 3 ½ hours or until meat is tender.
- Slice, and serve with sauce from the pan.
