Christmas Ornament: Salt Dough Gingerbread Man

This recipe is all about making a very cute Christmas ornament with materials you may have in your house right now. I think this is the only recipe in the Blond Box intended to make something inedible. If you would like to use one of the other recipes to make something inedible, good luck, because you’re on your own!

1 cup salt
2 cups flour
1 cup water

Mix salt and flour. Add water, a little at a time. Knead 7 to 10 min. until dough is smooth and putty-like.

Roll dough ¼ inch thick. Use a gingerbread-boy cookie-cutter to create the basic shape.

Roll small pieces of dough for eyes, cheeks, etc., and simply moistened with water to attach. Poke a hole at the top for hanging. Bake at 325° until light brown or let air dry overnight.

When cool, varnish to protected from moisture, or painted any color you like. Now it’s ready to hang on the tree!
