¾ cup dark molasses
¾ cup boiling water
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ cups sifted flour
¼ cup butter
½ cup brown sugar, packed
9 inch deep-dish pie pan, with pre-baked crust
Heat oven to 375°.
- Mix together molasses, water, soda, salt.
- Mix flour, butter, brown sugar with your hands to make a crumb.
- Pour about one half molasses mixture into crust; top with about one half flour mixture.
- Alternate layers, ending with flour mixture.
Bake for 35 min.
Serve warm or cold.
