The method for making this chili is to boil the beef. Boiling the ground beef yields a smooth texture, perfect for chili dogs.”

The first time I made this recipe, I doubled it, but everyone loved it so much that I did not have any extra to freeze, which was partly my goal. So I doubled it again.
I also have added to this recipe all the ingredients needed to turn it into Chili Dog Cincinnati Chili.

8 cups water
4 lb ground beef
4 medium onions, diced
2 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
8 garlic cloves, minced
6 tablespoons chili powder
1 ½ teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons ground cumin
2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
4 tablespoons cider vinegar
4 tablespoons Worcestershire  sauce
4 bay leaves
To make Chili Dog Cincinnati Chili, add the following:
4 teaspoons cocoa
2 teaspoons cinnamon

  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add beef and boil for 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Drain beef.
  2. Add remaining ingredients to beef and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Serve over hot dogs with yellow mustard and onions, or as 5-Way Chili.
