Goya Classic Red Beans and Rice

1 pound dry red kidney beans
4 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup smoked ham, chopped
1 cup onion, chopped
½ cup green pepper, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 packets Sazón Goya Con Culantro y Achiote
½ cup canned tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon oregano

Cooked white rice

1. Sort and wash beans. Add to a large saucepan along with 8 cups water. Bring to a full boil, then boil for 10 min. Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let sit for 1 hour. Do not drain.

2. Meanwhile, heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in ham, onions, green peppers and garlic; cook until tender.

3. Stir mixture into beans; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until beans are tender. Stir in the remaining ingredients, and cook for 10 min. longer. Serve over white rice.
