Colonial Pound Cake (The Frugal Gourmet)

It’s a pound here and a pound there, and pretty soon we’re talking about some serious cake!

2 sticks butter, softened
1 1/3 cups sugar
5 eggs
¼ teaspoon mace
2 cups flour, sifted

Preheat oven to 325°. Grease a 9" x 5" x 2 “ loaf pan.

Cream together butter and sugar using electric mixer. Beat in eggs, one at the time. When combined, sift in flour and mace, beating to make a smooth batter. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake at 325° for about 1 ½ hours.
