Chewy Cranberry Cookies

Cookie:
½ cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
¾ cup brown sugar, packed
¼ cup milk
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 egg
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon baking soda
2 ½ cups chopped cranberries, either fresh or frozen
1 cup chopped pecans

Glaze:
1/3 cup butter
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
2-4 tablespoons hot water

Heat oven to 375°. Grease a cookie sheet.
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar and brown sugar; mix until smooth. Stir in milk, orange juice and egg. Add remaining ingredients, blending thoroughly. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake 10 15 min., or until light brown. Cool.

For glaze, heat butter in a small saucepan over medium heat until golden-brown. Stir in confectioners’ sugar and vanilla. Whisk in water until icing reaches desired consistency and smoothness. Spread over cooled cookies.
